We are pleased to welcome you to Sungani Lodge and Kulandila Camp.

Please ensure you read our Terms and Conditions.

Conditions at a Glance

  • Booking is deemed confirmed when LPD Safaris Ltd is in receipt of a deposit or total payment.
  • Provisional bookings may be released in consultation with the guest as a courtesy, if no payment commitment has been received.
  • Provisional bookings will be held for 14 days and thereafter be released. In extraordinary circumstances we will hold for longer. If there are requests for the same dates we will require confirmation and payment of deposit within 48 hours or we will release.
  • 20% non-refundable deposit payable 7 days from date of invoice is required to secure booking.
  • Bookings made less than 90 days from arrival will require full payment at time of booking.
  • Full and final payment of invoice is required 90 days prior to arrival. Payment terms and plan is default as above unless otherwise agreed with our reservations team. 
  • Given the remoteness of the location, a minimum of 3 nights is recommended and would be given priority.

Acceptance, Guest Representation, and Consent

In these Terms & Conditions, references to “you”, “your”, “Guest” include the first named person on the booking and all persons on whose behalf a booking is made or any other person to whom a booking is added or transferred.

In these Terms & Conditions, references to “Company” refer to LPD Safaris Ltd for Sungani Lodge and Kulandila Camp.

By making a booking, the first-named person on the booking agrees on behalf of and has the authority to represent all persons detailed in the itinerary that:

  • He/she has read these Terms & Conditions, understands them, and agrees to be bound by them.
  • He/she consents to our use of personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and is authorised, on behalf of all persons named on the booking, to disclose their personal details to us, including where applicable special categories of data (such as information on health conditions, disabilities and/or dietary requirements).
  • He/she is over 18 years of age and where placing an order for services with age restrictions declares that he/she and all members of the party are of the appropriate age to purchase those services.
  • He/she accepts financial responsibility for payment of the booking on behalf of all persons detailed in the itinerary.

Agent

Where a guest used the services of an agent/travel designer for any aspect of their safari and booking, it is the responsibility of the agent/travel designer to make sure the guest/s are made aware of and accept these Terms and Conditions.

Booking Policy

Bookings cannot be made through our website. Please make contact with our reservation office with your desired dates via email and they will get back to you within 24 hours with availability. Email: reservations@sungani.com

Provisional Bookings

  • Provisional bookings may be released in consultation with guest as a courtesy, if no payment commitment has been received.
  • Provisional bookings will be held for 14 days and thereafter be released. In extraordinary circumstances we will hold for longer. If there are requests for the same dates we will require confirmation and payment of deposit within 48 hours or we will release.
  • 20% non-refundable deposit payable 7 days from date of invoice is required to secure booking.
  • Bookings made less than 90 days from arrival will require full payment at time of booking.
  • Full and final payment of invoice is required 90 days prior to arrival. Payment terms and plan is default as above unless otherwise agreed with our reservations team. 

Confirmed Bookings

  • Once the deposit is received, you will receive confirmation of your booking.
  • Balance of payment is required 90 days prior to travel. Short-lead time (less than 90 days) reservations must be paid in full within 48 hours.
  • Should we not receive the balance 90 days prior to your arrival LPD Safaris Ltd reserves the right to cancel the booking and the cancellation policy will automatically apply.

Postponements

  • Requests for postponement of bookings before 90 days of travel will be considered but there are no guarantees that our cancellation penalties will be waived.
  • Requests for postponement of bookings within 60 days of travel will not be considered and will trigger a full cancellation penalty.

Payment

  • Our rates are quoted and payable in USD (American Dollars). Direct transfers can be made into our bank account – this is our preferred method of collections.
  • Final balance payments will be invoiced and must be transferred via direct transfers to our account.
  • PLEASE NOTE THAT PAYMENTS MUST BE MADE IN FULL AND FREE OF ALL BANK & INTERMEDIARY BANK CHARGES. ANY BANK CHARGE LEVIED WILL BE INVOICED BY RETURN. PLEASE NOTE THIS INCLUDES RECEIVING ZAMBIAN BANK CHARGES.

Cancellations must be submitted in writing.

  • Forfeit 50% of fee if cancelled 61 – 90 days (120 days for exclusive use) prior to arrival.
  • Forfeit 100% of fee if cancelled less than 60 – 0 days (90-0 days for exclusive use) prior to arrival.
  • Forfeit 100% of fee if ‘exclusive use’ or group booking is cancelled 120 – 0 days prior to arrival.
  • Cancellation or part cancellation (reduction in number of rooms or nights) of a confirmed reservation, including changing the dates of travel, will result in the loss of the 20% deposit.
  • Each guest covenants not to take any legal action against the indemnified parties or challenge in any way for whatever reason the validity or competence of these Terms and Conditions.
  • LPD Safaris Ltd reserves the right to amend/alter the itinerary if the ground handler, agent or guide deem this necessary for reasons of safety, convenience or guest comfort.

Emerald Season (25 Jan – 31 Mar)

CLOSED FOR 2025 SEASON 

  • A minimum of 6 pax is required to operate the season
  • Booking for this season must be confirmed/paid at least 4 months in advance
  • Booking requires a 4 night minimum stay
  • Transfer in and out will be by boat (3 hours)

Exclusive use

  • A non-refundable commitment deposit of 30% is required when holding provisional exclusive use dates for longer than 7 days, this will go towards the cost of booking should it be confirmed. If departure from the property is after 09:00 an additional day will be charged to preclude inbound guest arrivals and minimise disruption to ensure guest enjoyment and comfort is catered to on the final departure day.
  • The full payment of the remaining balance is required 120 days prior to arrival. Standard cancellation policy applies here.

Group Bookings

  • A non-refundable commitment deposit of 30% is required when holding provisional group bookings dates for longer than 7 days, this will go towards the cost of booking should it be confirmed. If departure from the property is after 10:00 an additional day will be charged to preclude inbound guest arrivals and minimise disruption to ensure guest enjoyment and comfort is catered to on the final departure day.
  • The full payment of the remaining balance is required 90 days prior to arrival. Standard cancellation policy applies here.

Private Vehicles

Private vehicle subject to availability $500 per night.

Child policy

No children under the age of 12 unless they are part of an ‘exclusive use’ booking. Normal child rates apply for ‘exclusive use’ booking.

Itinerary and other changes

We will make every effort to adhere to schedules and routes, but these are subject to change dictated by changing conditions. The conditions may be caused by seasonal rainfall on roads, the airfield, and in-game areas.

The Company is not responsible for such external conditions which may result in itinerary changes. If the Guest initiates any change to the itinerary, accommodation, flights, services etc then they are responsible for any expenses arising from the change. The Guest understands and agrees that the Company is entitled to modify, improve, discontinue or otherwise cancel any part of the safari services should they see fit.

The Company reserves the right to cancel if Force Majeure is in play. Force Majeure means, in relation to either party, any circumstances beyond the reasonable control of that party including but not limited to any acts of god, epidemics, pandemics, COVID-19 (including but not limited to the COVID-19 pandemic), coronavirus, swine flu, bird flu, and any mutations of any of them, fires, explosions, earthquakes, floods, volcanic eruptions, ash clouds, storms, tempest, lightning, climate change, strikes or lockouts, riots, civil commotions, war, rebellion, mechanical breakdowns or harmful acts for political reasons, any terrorist, biochemical attacks, cyber attacks, national mourning or other similar national or regional event or purposes, material or national emergency, terrorist or military activity, labour disputes, airlines disturbances or cessation, civil disturbances, explosions, inevitable accident, failure of third party suppliers, failure of network and communications providers, failure of utility supply of any kind e.g. water, gas, electricity, interventions, government actions or regulations or restrictions by national or local authorities or in each case any circumstances, events, consequences or occurrences arising from or associated with any of these things or matters defined as Force Majeure in this clause. Each guest covenants not to take any legal action against the indemnified parties or challenge in any way for whatever reason the validity or competence of these Terms and Conditions.

Rates

PPPN sharing rates include

  • Luxury full board accommodation
  • Complimentary flights from Mfuwe Airport to Sungani and return
  • Professionally guided safari activities and wildlife hide network
  • All meals including a variety of dining experiences in the bush
  • Laundry and valet services
  • Drinks (excluding top-shelf beverages)
  • In-tent tea and coffee making facilities
  • Starlink WIFI (in tents at Sungani and only in main area at Kulandila)
  • Full use of photographic studio only at Sungani Lodge
  • VAT and service charge

PPPN sharing rates exclude

  • Lusaka meet & greet – city transfers
  • Top-shelf beverages
  • Gratuities, visas and airport departure taxes
  • Flights (aside from Mfuwe Airport to Sungani airstrip and return)
  • Photographic equipment which can be hired across both properties
  • $115 PPPN tourism – conservation – DNPW fees and levies: which are non-commissionable. DNPW fees are subject to change. If an increase is levied by DNPW before the start of the safari this amount will be passed onto guests. This fee is applicable to all nights regardless of specials.

Our rates are subject to change, but we would honour any confirmed bookings in the unlikely event we find we had to adjust the rates upwards.

Transfers

A 20-25 minute flight from Mfuwe to Sungani in our aircraft. If preferred, collection can be done by road which will take around 3 hours. Please note the rate is the same even if the collection is preferred by road. Transfers to and from other camps can be booked and quoted for. We would need you to arrive on a schedule that provides adequate daylight for the air transfer. Transfer in Emerald Season is by boat (3 hours).

If for any reason we are unable to fly in or out it is possible that it will have to be a road transfer back to Mfuwe (2.5-3 hours) we have a closed airconditioned vehicle as a contingency.

Check-in: We endeavour to have your tent ready on arrival. Should there be a turnaround, we will ensure you are not kept waiting long.
Check out: It will be approx. 10:00 on the date of departure. When availability allows early or late check-in / out are possible at no extra charge.

Flights

Most international guests arrive via Lusaka, Zambia. You’ll fly to Mfuwe International Airport. We endeavour to plan your arrival at Mfuwe to allow for a transfer flight to Sungani during daylight and will work with your travel designer.

Chartering direct to us is also an option.

  • Luggage strictly soft shell bags 15kg/33lb.
  • Flights to and from Mfuwe are included in the rate.
  • Flight times may change at short notice – if this happens all parties will be notified with enough time to prevent major delays and time on safari.
  • Exact flight times will be confirmed 30 days out.
  • Sungani does not guarantee private charters and reserves the right to sub contract other reputable charter companies.
  • Private charter pricing is subject to change.
  • Alcohol is prohibited on any of these flights, even in a cooler.

Luggage

When you fly in our aircraft, it is strictly soft bags only – 15Kg’s. The pilot reserves the right to exclude overweight baggage to meet safety and legal requirements. Hardshell bags will not be loaded. If you require additional baggage to be collected by road this is subject to availability and there is a charge. If you need your luggage to be stored at Lusaka, please advise ahead of time and we will make arrangements.

Insurance

The appropriate comprehensive travel and medical insurance is mandatory. It is the Guest/s sole responsibility to make sure the insurance includes at, a minimum, coverage for the following: cancellation for any reason, curtailment of the safari and any associated air travel, emergency evacuation expenses, medical expenses, repatriation expenses, damage, theft or loss of personal baggage, money, and goods. The Company is not responsible for any losses or costs incurred or suffered by the Guest, or Guest’s dependents, or travelling companions concerting, but not limited to, any of the above-mentioned events. Please make sure to consult your insurance provider to ensure you are fully covered for the nature of your trip. We strongly recommend that CFAR – Cancel for any reason – policy is purchased.

Privacy

LPD Safaris Ltd is committed to privacy and security. It is understood that the website Privacy Policy has been read and accepted as part of the agreement of these Terms and Conditions.

Photo Policy

PLEASE NOTE: No image may be used without clear credit to www.sungani.com or our social media handles. No images may be used to promote other safari lodges/camps or other safari areas.

Travel and medical documentation

It is the Guest’s sole responsibility to make sure that they have all the correct medical and travel documentation. The Company is not responsible for any additional costs if you fail to do so and, in the case of passengers being refused entry by any immigration or other authority, all repatriation costs are to be borne by the traveller.

Risks

The Guest understands the assumption of dangers, risks, and hazards associated with safari activities and other services the Company provides. While every care is taken to ensure your safety and well-being and to minimise your exposure to risk, by accepting our Terms and Conditions, the inherent risks when travelling to Africa on safari are clearly understood and unequivocally accepted by every guest. Including, but not limited to risk of injury, death, illness, disability, theft or damage of personal effects, lack of appropriate medical care, weather, strikes, acts of God, war, quarantine, force majeure, criminal activity or any cause beyond the control of LPD Safaris Ltd.

Indemnity and limitation of liability

By agreeing to the booking terms, the Guest also agrees to sign an indemnity form upon arrival during your health and safety briefing. Release and discharge the Company, including its subsidiaries, related entities, and group companies and all their directors, officers, employees, agents, assigns, associates, outfitters, contractors, service providers, and/or suppliers (the Indemnified Parties) from any claims, actions, proceedings, damages, loss, costs, and expenses including, without limitation, any direct, indirect, special, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages (Claim) which the Guest/s (or the Guest’s heirs, executors or administrators) may have against the Indemnified Parties because of any matters, cause or thing whatsoever, including inter alia, death, disability, injury, loss, theft or damage to property, delays, and cancellations of expeditions arising from or relating directly or indirectly to the Risks and generally the Guest’s participation in the safari or services provided by the Company.
Indemnify and hold harmless the Indemnified Parties against any such Claims relating to or arising because the Guest participated in the safari, services, or related activities or due to any other matters, cause or thing whatsoever, including inter alia death, disability, injury, loss, theft or damage to property, delays, and cancellations of expeditions.

No Representations or Warranties

The Guest acknowledges that it does not rely on, and shall have no remedies in respect of, any statement, representation, assurance, or warranty (whether made innocently or negligently) made by the Company in respect of the Safaris or any other services. The Company does not make any express or implied warranties, endorsements, or representations whatsoever as to the operation of the safaris or other services provided on tour to the Guest. This shall include, but not be limited to, implied representations as to licenses, certificates, regulatory or governmental authorisations in relation to the safaris or other services.

Covenant

Sungani Lodge and Kulandila Camp reserve the right to admit or remove any guest/s whose behaviour impacts negatively on staff, other guests and hotel property.
LPD Safaris Ltd reserves the right to release any booking which has not been paid according to the Terms and Conditions above.

General

The Guest accepts that all statements made and/or information given by the Company are provided in good faith and are not to be construed as in any way affecting or waiving the booking terms and conditions. Where any booking is made by an agent on behalf of a Guest, it is the Agents responsibility to ensure that the Guest is aware of and accepts the conditions as set out by the Company.

Entire Agreement

The Guest understands and agrees that the above terms and conditions constitute the entire general agreement between the Guest and the Company. The Guest also acknowledges that he/she may be subject to additional terms and conditions when they use, purchase or access other services, affiliate services, or third-party services during their stay.

Changes to the Terms

The Company reserves the right to modify these terms and conditions from time to time at its sole discretion and without any notice. Changes to these terms and conditions become effective on the date they are posted on the website of the Company and the Guest agrees to be bound by them.
